The Minnesota Twins and Milwaukee Brewers are locked in a border battle of non-epic proportions. Compared to the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox rivalry, we are the two douche-bags on the play ground yelling about an ill-advised Magic the Gathering card throw.

Unfortunately for them, the Yankee’s and Red Sox’s players are tainted with steroids over the past decade so our border battle is pure like Columbian Cocaine right off the plane in Miami.

Last night Nick Blackburn lost a game that wasn’t his fault. He is looking like the Ace the Twins need for the future and yet the runs didn’t support him. Jason Kubel hit his 13th homer which keeps his 3rd place behind Justin Morneau and Joe Mauer. Watching Jason Kubel hit home runs is like watching Lumberjack days. He just cuts down trees to blast balls covering the fans with his white rocket.

Continue reading "Jason Kubels White Rocket"

Deciding to sit among baseball fans, I wanted to be in the competitive environment of a major league stadium. My fraternity brothers are eclectic and both sides of the boarder. Wisconsinites mingle freely on Minnesota soil. I sat down just in time to see nervous eyed Carlos Gomez bat lead off.

Listening to my friends I sat in a room of Wisconsinites and Minnesotans. Bets flared, cases of beer and keg cups were bartered before anyone even got up off the couch. College students don’t have much to offer for bets except alcohol and $5. Miller High Life is the request of the Wisconsinites and Coors is for the Minnesotans. Well anything that doesn’t support Wisconsin is a beer of choice.

The conversation shifted to who has a better ball park. Target Field verse Miller Park (We all pretend the Metrodome isn’t real) The home run porch verse the chance to have balconies like the Chicago stadium. Unresolved, we watch the bats of the first inning. Little excitement until we see a strike 3 pitch in the dirt that advances a runner. “Hooray, an All-Star catcher like Joe Mauer wouldn’t error like that!” Ruckas becomes the norm in a fraternity. We live out loud.

Continue reading "Twins Verse Brewers 1st Inning Minnesota Experience"

The Minnesota Vikings are sending representatives to check out Brett Favre. Why, are we wasting more time pursuing this man? He is a empty bucket with little incentive for the Vikings to follow.

He isn’t a great quarterback. He is average and now injury-ridden. It is up to Vikings management to make sure that the organization doesn’t pay a dime more than he worth.

His “fame” and name shouldn’t blind the Vikings to what is the real problem. What Favre will show up to play for the Vikings? Will be be the 2007 Brett Favre that had a 13-3 season or will he be the disgruntled Brett Favre that left the Packers and Jets?

He has more questions than answers at this moment. How is his shoulder, will he even be the type of person that people respect anymore? Does the blue collar plumber from northern Minnesota still identify with Brett Favre or has Brett become the type of pansy that even white collar men have lost respect for?

Continue reading "Brett Favre Should Find His Sofa Groove The NFL Groove Is Gone"

The Twinkies seem solid. The 10 year life shelf of real Twinkies in the grocery store doesn’t work with our ball club. They flash good and bad at anytime. They might make on the shelf for about 2 days then implode. Yet with 10 runs they are undefeated.

The Minnesota twins are 8-0 when they score more than 10 runs. I wish I could except that every night. If the team hit like Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau I could expect it but unfortunately we have 7 other batters in the line up.

Jason Kubel lifted his game in this road series. The Athletics didn’t seem as dominate as he changed the game with his home-run in the 7th. Alexi Casilla did his job by getting on base and scoring the winning run of the night.

Continue reading "Minnesota Twins Joe Nathan Jason Kubel Defeat Oakland Athletics"

Today wasn’t anything particularly special. I woke up at 8:00a.m., a full hour after my alarm went off, not awesome. Turned on the TV to see more Brett Favre. His face, his grizzle and red jersey. It seems that all the footage of Brett playing in Packer colors has been wiped off the face of the earth.

ESPN only shows his New York Jets attire. Which is accurate of Brett Favre but, I don’t like or respect Favre because of his last outing in the NFL. I respect him because of his years in Green Bay. The city of Green Bay that without Football, would be valued at about 25 cents. Brett Favre though makes that city something of an icon. An icon for what America could turn into if we follow tired and old tactics.

Continue reading "Brett Favre -- Green Bay Americas Favorite Washed-Up Lovable Loser"

Brett Favre where do we begin. This is an open letter to you and all of your concerns. Stop you incessant pursuit to dominate your old team. It isn’t likable, pretty or even expected that a man of caliber would stoop to such depths. No playing campaign with the Minnesota Vikings will validate your 16 year career with the Green Bay Packers. Unless you join the Vikings and go undefeated for the next two seasons, the Packers are never going to believe they made the wrong decision.

No one wants you on their team except the Minnesota Vikings. As an organization, we want you only because it would fulfill a team goal of demoralizing the Packers. Vikings fans do not even have expectations yet about the outcome of the game. October 5th, 2009 will be important to both teams regardless of the starting Quarterback. I hope with baited breath that Favre decides to attend the game, in the stands. The first time I will have a true man-respect for Brett Favre again.

Continue reading "Minnesota Vikings Want Brett Favre To Coach Tavaris and Win a Superbowl"

Turning on Sportscenter and seeing a Twins story mentioned brightens my day. It reminds Minnesotans that we are not forgotten in the quiet AL Central. It’s good when they talk about our winning and not just the new stadium. That stadium will make us famous next year regardless of our record.

Minnesotans love a little fame and opening new attractions (ie): Mall of America, 35W bridge and Mall of America. (Ok there isn’t much in Minnesota, except nice people and the Mall of America)

Minnesota has an undying love for sports. No matter the crushing blow of last season, we Minnesotans proudly return for a new chance at glory or despair.

That is why the Twins making it to Sportscenter is so important. Obviously snapping Ichiro’s 27 game hit streak is an important season note but Minnesotans just want a little recognition. Joe Nathan picking up his 11th save was magical, but no crucial it did redeem the team after a 6-1 loss to Cleveland. Winning a game 2-1 in Seattle is huge but, isn’t the most important. Making is on Sportscenter reminds the world; the Twins play honest baseball.

Continue reading "Sportscenter Covers Minnesota Twins Verse Seattle Mariners"

Joe Nathan is my hero. He saved the first game of 14 game block the twins have embarked. When he takes the mound in any game Twins fans settle a little back into their seats. Suddenly the Metrodome doesn’t seem so ugly or cold when Nathan is pitching. The Minnesotan accents retreat and we start to sound a little like New Yorkers; over confident and coarse. Our nice is replaced with cocky.

Cocky Midwesterners, sounds a little oxymoron but when Joe Nathan is on the mound we can’t control it. Similar to the werewolf under a full moon. Minnesotans can’t contain ourselves. At-least that is my experience. I didn’t have a chance to watch the entire game last night, I arrived at the top of the 8th inning.

Continue reading "Minnesota Twins Fan Ga Ga Over Joe Nathan"

Minnesota Twins Shortstop Nick Punto provides relief to his team injured. Thank Manager Gardenhire for deciding to stop the bleeding. There hasn’t been progress this season for Nick Punto. He is batting his worst AVG ever and holds one of the worst On Base Percentages in MLB.

In every season with at-least 40 games played or 90 at bats, Nick Punto has averaged better than his pitiful 187 AVG in 2009. His departure from the Twins organization will allow the team a better chance at victory.

Nick Punto on the disabled list with a sore groin muscle is our benefit. Manager Gardenhire blamed Punto’s injury on his poor play but then ask the question, “Why did Punto play so poorly when not injured?”

Continue reading "Drop Nick Punto Keep Alexi Casilla"

Does anyone believe the Minnesota Vikings wouldn't be better with Brett Favre? Of course some do but I don't, his pre-madonna motivation to reign the Vikings to a Superbowl simply to spite his former GM is going to carry him far enough. That type of attitude isn't for the Vikings. We need a team made of selfless leaders and selfish role players. Our Quarterback Tavaris Jackson needs to simply develop himself as a passer, stop trying to be a runner, and become a leader. Our wide receivers need to stop being scared and get hungry. The fear of being hit isn't enough for them to run fast, the motivation should be the touchdown. The end zone dance should be their highlight.

No questions should be asked of Adrian Peterson, he's the quintessential Vikings player if we are focused on winning a championship. He will ignite our team by his humble legs and polite footwork. He won't crush opponents unless you are trying to crush him and he'll dodge, deke, and discomfort by making you looking stupid, when possible. We don't ask for a team of winners all the time but when the game is on the line we expect there to be a decision made that keeps the team churning.

Continue reading "Brett Favre Mr Self-Destructive Leaving His Teams Floundering From His Fear"
